The 1939-40 Roxbury High
School Football Team. The boys who went to war.
DONALD LARUE is seen in the
top row, 4th from right, #5. He lived in Port Morris and was the first man from
Roxbury Township to
die in World War II. He was a Seaman, US Coast Guard and was killed on a landing
beach in Morocco that was strafed November 8, 1942.
Roxbury
High School primarily serves the six communities of Roxbury
Township in Morris County, NJ: Ledgewood, Kenvil, Landing, Succasunna, Port Morris and Lower Berkshire Valley. Mount Arlington students also attend Roxbury HS to this day. Over the years several other Municipalities have sent their students to Roxbury. This 1940 Yearbook also records seniors from Wharton, Dover, Chester, Flanders, Hopatcong and a few others. Not all students from those towns attended Roxbury. Several long time Roxbury families had students in this 1940 class: Atno, Canfield, Fancher, Freund, Granato, Lee, Mooney, Perfetti, Regula, Togno. |
