A Celebration of the Life of
Harry E. Davenport
of Succasunna, NJ

This page serves as a gateway into a commemoration of the life of Harry E. Davenport, lifetime resident of Succasunna, New Jersey. But the mere word "resident" belies the true character of the man:
30 Years of Service to the Community as Sexton of Succasunna Presbyterian Church
45 Years of Service to the Community as Cemetery Superintendent & Caretaker
56 Years of Service to the Community as a Fireman with Roxbury Co. No. 1
He was a Husband, a Father, a Grandfather, a leader with 4-H and a well known friend to many in our community. In these pages you'll learn that his ancestors had come from England in the late 1600's, settling in the Ulster Co. NY area, then buying land in Montville, NJ, and going on to become the first recorded settlers in Jefferson Township. Their purchase of several plots of land on Eyland Ave in 1913 brought the family to Roxbury Township, where Harry was born in 1915.

This Tribute by Harry's son Robert will serve as an introduction for some, and a sweet reminder to the many friends & family of Harry Davenport.
